Schedule

Tentative Agenda for the Weekend

Saturday, July 16
The first day will be a concentrated seminar with a focus on practices that are uniquely adapted to female Iaido practitioners. The lecture will build on those aspects and discuss ways to succeed personally and as a leader in a budo culture that favours the opposite gender.

In the evening, a banquet will be held on the 2nd Floor of the Etobicoke Olympium, and is open to anyone -- including non-participants. We hope to include a open interview with Sensei to learn more about her experiences in the Iaido world and how that has impacted her personal life.

Sunday, July 17
The second day will be opened up to male Iaido practitioners of 4-Dan and above to align on the learnings from the previous day. The lecture will consist of tips and practices Sensei uses to teach students with different body types, experiences, and attitudes. Gender is a simple way of categorizing practitioners, but it is also important to understand the many other differences that could exist student-to-student. With her vast experience of teaching in Japan and internationally, Sensei will help participants understand how to succeed as an instructor of Iaido.

While no group dinner is scheduled for this day, participants are encouraged to continue socializing and debriefing on the learnings from the weekend over food and drink.
